Lesser Known Fanfiction Fandoms - Continued....
I nominate any of the Dorothy Koomson books: The Cupid Effect; The Chocolate Run; My best friend's girl; Marshmallows for Breakfast; Goodnight Beautiful; The Woman he loved Before.
Or any of Adele Parks' books (there are too many to list, but they're awesome)
I don't know if any of them are fandoms, but even if they aren't, they're brilliant books that I highly recommend.
~ 'I didn't mean to, honest to goodness I didn't. It just happened.'
Amber Salpone doesn't mean to keep ending up in bed with her friend Greg Walterson, but she can't help herself. And every time it 'just happens' their secret affair moves closer to being a real relationship, which is a big problem when he's a womaniser and she's a commitment-phobe.
While Amber struggles to accept her new feelings for Greg, she also realises that her closeness to Jen, her best friend, is slipping away and the two of them are becoming virtual strangers. Slowly but surel, as the stark truths of all their lives are revealed, Amber has to confront the fact that chocolate can't cure everything and sometimes running away isn't an option... ~
This book isn't the usual romcom fairy tale romance that authors try to spin (though she does get her man in the end), and it's one that I've re-read quite a few times. It's well-written with characters that grow and evolve as their story plays out. When reading, I wanted to laugh, and cry, and even slap a couple of the characters from pure frustration! It's most definitely a good book that I'd recommed to anyone.
If this type of story isn't your cup of tea, Dorothy Koomson also has six other books; The Cupid Effect, My Best Friend's Girl, Marshmallows For Breakfast, Goodnight Beautiful, The Ice Cream Girls and The Woman He Loved Before. They all, like this one, have a strong thread of romance and sometimes humour, yet also leave you with a strong reminder about the reality others live in. Her writing doesn't shy away from what may be considered taboo subjects, while she isn't afraid to write a lighter, happier story.
All in all, these books leave you feeling satisfied, yet somehow wanting more!
The author I want to rec is untamed00notbroken and her fan fiction. Its summary is: We all know of werewolves... but what of werecats? This is about Savannah Colman and her life as a tabby in the Pride. Rated M for language, violence, and later chapters lemons for those who aren't interested in that kind of thing do not read.
Why do I want to rec her fic? Firstly, because she’s a brilliantly talented, yet under-recognised fanfiction writer. Her first and only fan fiction story (at the moment) is titled, The Pride: Savannah’s Side, and is based mainly off of the Pride series by Rachel Vincent. However, she also takes inspiration from other authors Kelley Armstrong, Sherilyn Kenyon, Trisha Baker, Jessica Anderson, Tami Hong, Sergei Lukyanenko as well as her own original ideas to blend them all into a story that has romance, action, humour and in the later chapters, a whole heap of angst and plot twists that keep you on your toes. I only found out that she was a fan fiction author because she started reading one of my fan fictions, and it took me a few months to build up the courage to read her fic, since I’d never even heard of the series before. But I’m so glad that I did.
It follows approximately six months to a year in the life of Savannah Colman, as she’s called back from college by her family to be protected by the Pride. Someone, or something, is taking tabbies, and her family, and Pride don’t want her to be next. She has to leave behind her human boyfriend Josh, and back home she understandably ends up spending time with her ex-fiancĂ©, Marc. Deeply buried sparks begin to fly, and though they try to deny it, with the danger that threatens Savannah, one thing soon leads to another, especially when the threat begins to strike a little too close to home.
Her chapters are enthralling and mesmerising, and suck me deep into her story each time. She has a way of intertwining subtle sub-plots in a way that leaves you anxious and needing more, whilst sometimes still being left reeling from the events that transpired in the chapter you just finished reading. The feelings and emotions she evokes with her words are indescribable. On more than one occasion I’ve found myself choked up and teary, both with sadness and happiness alike. I’ve wanted to laugh, cry, grin like a fool and ‘awwwwwwwwwwww’ as I read this story. The motivations for each of the characters is specific according to their personalities, and at times you want to strangle them, or just knock their heads together to make them see sense!
It’s mainly narrated by Savannah, and we soon become accustomed to her caring, yet slightly sarcastic tongue as we progress through the story. However, there are a few chapters in Marc’s POV where we gain some insight into what he’s thinking and feeling about the events that unfold in the later chapters. The story has only just been completed (the epilogue was a fantastic Christmas Day treat and the perfect ending to a beautiful story), but thankfully she has a plan in the works for a sequel that’s due to be started in January!
Untamed00notbroken is a fantastic author, and writes for the enjoyment she gains from having people enjoy her work. This fic sadly doesn’t have a high review count, even though it deserves more, but her simple, yet effective writing style has a huge impact.
On top of being a fantastic writer, she’s also an extremely talented artist (check her work out on DeviantArt under the same name!) a great friend and a lovely person to boot. She takes on board the suggestions that are offered up by her readers, and also helps those who need a little bit of support, encouragement or advice with their fics and the direction they want to take. I guess I want to rec her because not only does she deserve it as an author, but also as a person. She’s one of the kindest, nicest people I had the good fortune to meet through fan fiction, and while she definitely writes for an unusual and under recognized fandom she truly deserves a lot more recognition for her fic.

Lesser Known Fanfiction Fandoms
I love stories with happy endings; the ones where you can relax, and enjoy the journey because you are 100% sure it will all be resolved by the end.
I also happen to love stories which depict large families; it's a weakness of mine. Being an only child, raised by a single mother, I love reading of little signs that blood does run thicker than water.
Figure my joy when I found a series that has BOTH my loves in it.
Seven siblings, all of them adorably named in alphabetic order: Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphne, Eloise, Francoise, Gregory, and Hyacinthe (I know, I know. I'd snicker if that happened in real life, but for some reason, in this series, it works.) Add a matriarch who knows exactly what her children need, and still bows graciously when she is mistaken, and the Bridgertons become a family I was eager to meet after I finished the first book and figured I had six more to go. I found the third book to drag a little, especially in comparison to the previous two, but luckily it didn't stop me from trying out the fourth... and fifth... and twenty-four hours later I was wishing for an eighth book.
I have a warning, though. If you're looking for deep delving into a character's mind, this isn't it. It's about people falling in love at first (or second, at the latest) sight, though there are one or two surprises along the way. There are the usual previous engagements, and scheming uncles, and evil stepmothers, and hidden treasures, and masked heroes - not all in the same book, thank God. But all in all, the characterization is steady, and it was fun to see the little Bridgertons grow up in the background of their older siblings' stories until it was their turn for the limelight.
Rating? NC-17. Yep. This series belongs to *that* kind of books. You know, the ones where someone loses their virginity somewhere in the middle of the story. If that's a point in Ms. Quinn's favor for you, yay! Her lemons are quite well-written. If you don't the citrus-y flavor, do what I did and skip those pages.
It'll be worth the read.
The dialogue is witty and fun, with few exceptions. I also liked that not one couple was like the other, and how all the characters came to play in every book without forcing the situation.
You can find her on livejournal here: http://leni-ba.livejournal.com/info
While her fanfiction is posted at http://kitteninthedark.livejournal.com/info
And before you ask, this is not the film where thousands of robots jump through the glass; Will Smith shooting each of ‘em while a computerized voice screams,” MY LOGIC IS UNDENIABLE!” That was an adaptation from many stories of Asimov. I,Robot basically is a compilation of stories which do not fit into any series per se, but stand out as brilliant.
Sadly this fandom has exactly only 5 stories. Either it is because no one thinks they can do justice to the original (God knows I have thought that several times) or they are not interested in the awesomeness that is Sci-fi. Anyways for more information, check out its Wiki page.
Raise your hands if you know of the Doctor? Dr Who is the longest running sci-fi series in the world, and is now being steered by Russell T Davies. The Doctor is a human-looking alien, the last of the Time Lords, who travels through time in his TARDIS, usually with the assistance of a young, female helper (nothing pervy, the Doctor doesn't DO relationships). The latest series sees Matt Smith take on the role of the Doctor (the eleventh since the series' creation), with husband and wife duo Amelia Pond (Karen Gillan) and Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill) along for the bumpy ride. Despite its occasionally adult tones, Dr Who is a long enjoyed family show, which shows off some innovative writing if not hokey special effects! Recs from the group wall below.
-The group complete Howard (Simon Helberg) who still lives with his mother and Raj (Kunal Nayyar) who can't speak to girls unless he is drunk.
-On the fourth season Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) Howard's fiancee and Amy Farrah Fowler Sheldon's friend who is girl but not his girlfriend (Mayim Bialik) will also join the group.
-The Series count four years of success. However the fan fics for the show are very little (just over 1,000) compared to other Fandoms.
She is a VW merchanic, her best friend is a 300 italian vampire called Stefan and her neighbour *cough* love interest *cough* is a werewolf called Adam. The werewolves in this series are also immortal.
Currently there are 6 books.
1: Moon Called
2: Blood Bound
3: Iron Kissed
4 Bone Crossed
5: Silver Borne
6: River Marked
They are a healthy mix of action and romance, Mercy is prone to trouble, she always seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Much to the annoyance of Adam.
Mercy is a strong, assertive character, Patricia Briggs is a good writer in my opinion.
here is the fanfics. it is small just over 150 http://www.fanfiction.net/book/Mercy_Thompson_series/
There are also chapter extracts available on Patricia Briggs site if anyone is interested in checking it out. http://www.patriciabriggs.com/books/
I was sitting with my feet in the water when I felt it coming.
The water around my leg started boiling, and my lower leg started glowing where the scar was embedding itself.
The third of the Lorien symbols, the third warning.
The stakes were higher now.
They had found number three, wherever he or she was, and number three was dead.
I am number four.
--- I love the premise to the story because it's based on an alien race of people who, for the most part, appear human. The people, who are Loric (from their home planet Lorien) are more or less extinguished by their enemies, the Mogadorians. In the dying days of their civilization, the Loric people sent 9 children and 9 guard (Cepans) from Lorien to Earth in order to keep their race alive.
To protect the children, a number was given to each, and a type of spell was set in place that stipulated a Loric child couldn't die unless they were next. They have to be killed in order of their numbers, that is, unless they are together.
Upon getting to Earth, each child left with their Cepan, and have been separated ever since.
As they grow up, the children develop what are called their Legacies. They are, for lack of a better word, superhuman abilities. On Lorien, they would not have been anything too special, but to people on Earth they appear extraordinary. These are what help the children and their guard fight against the Mogadorians in the story.
When number three dies is where the story picks up. And I reallllly love it :) If there is anyone who was thinking about reading them, I highly recommend it

Pups Spreads The Love
Now, my next rec is a bit more.... experimental. Literally. I'm not sure how many couples actually feature in this one but my oh my they are amazing.
My last rec for this fine evening is a little bit.... different and definitely not for everyone. As you can see if you read my previous rec, and you should, you see that the boys of Twilight tend to get ALL KINDS of love and so do the ladies. Edward, Bella, Rose, Emmett, Jasper, Alice and Carlisle are served up in every conceivable combination all over fandom. Now, I'm not complaining in the least , don't get me wrong. However, take a look at that list. See someone missing? That's right, every one's favorite Mama Bear is hard to find in a non-canon situation. Non-canon Esme fics are few and far between, I am sorry to say. Esme is strong, confident, funny and beautiful. Why doesn't she get any non-canon love? I wondered the same thing for a long time until I stumbled on this little ditty and my pervy little heart exploded with glee.
Well my lovelies, that concludes my first ever 'Pups Spreads The Love' post. I hope you all take a chance and explore something new and different with me. Todays fics were all Twilight but I KNOW some of you read other fandoms, as do I, and I will be featuring them in coming weeks. Got a non-canon pairing you want to see here? Any and all suggestions are welcome and will be considered for a rec. Till next time my loves.
Pole dances and panty flashes,
Pups

FFA Holiday Awards
Can you believe it’s December already? What a crazy year it has been! We’ve had ups and downs, people come in and out, we had to rebuild the group and we had two FAGE’s; both of which were complete successes!
We’ve had some new family members born this year, with a few admin and members welcoming new additions. We’ve had some losses too and we've had to really band together as a family to be there for those who have lost friends, or family, and for those going through troubled times.
It’s amazing to see how the group comes together during the good and bad times. Sure there are complaints, no person is perfect and no group run by humans is going to be perfect either. However, I like to think that we all do what we can to make it one of the best, if not THE best, general fanfiction groups on Facebook.
I really love seeing all the messages about how FFA has opened their mind to search out fanfiction for fandoms they'd forgotten about or didn't think to read up on. I know I've read quite a few different fandoms this year and it's been so much fun.
But what I love most is that this group isn't just about fandoms and fanfiction. It's become a second home for many. A place to speak with like minded, and some not so like minded, people and source different opinions on many different subjects. It just goes to show that hundreds of different people CAN get along, no matter where you're from.
In short, it's YOU guys that make FFA what it is and I want to thank you for being my home away from home.
With that said we thought that we would end the year with a big bang, and what better way to do that than to hand out some awards and have a good laugh while doing it? We want you all to share the festive spirit this holiday season. No matter what race, creed, religion or country you come from, you ALL can join! Even if you don't celebrate anything in December, we have something for you, too!
(At least we hope that we have covered all bases and there is something for everyone. Remember, we are always willing to hear your ideas so if you think of a category to add to our list of awards, please let an admin member know.)
